Black Gun Metal Gloss

I found this recipe in a 1997 issue of Ceramics Monthly. Its gloss finish makes it tough to photograph but the metallic feel it puts off is undeniable. I will often layer blue spruce glaze over it, getting the moving blue you see in the photo. Periods of high temperature soaking with this glaze can create unwanted drips, but the movement is so beautiful. It can be a make-it-or-break-it situation, and a majority of the time, is worth the risk.
